This bike tour started yesterday in Alabama.  When I heard about it, I got jealous that I couldn’t be apart of it.  Then I remembered how I’m in no shape to ride 1800 miles on my bicycle.  Regardless I wanted to spread the word.

This bike ride hits close to home (literally) as my hometown of Marion, Ohio is smack dab in the middle of the Underground Railroad.  The UGRR’s “River-to-lake Freedom Trail” follows current day US-23 from the river town of Portsmouth, OH to Marion, where it then follows Rt 4 (very close to my house) to Sandusky, which I don’t think Cedar Point was there yet when the railroad was happening…

I’m a big fan of these trips.  Their purpose is close the heart of our faith: to raise awareness for a cause that is “looking after orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27).”  It’s an excellent way to be the Face of Love, and these trips are usually life-changing for the individuals who are on them.

They’ll be holding events in different cities along the way, so check their route to see if they’ll be stopping anywhere near you.  You can follow along with their progress and even watch live streaming when it’s on air HERE
