Full Moon Fever’s Long, Lost Twin & Twin Cities’ Minnesota Twins

17 Jul

We had a day off at Minneapolis yesterday and right in line with all days off in Minneapolis, it was full of adventure and dream-chasing.  Now its typical for me to wake up and be confused, but this day I woke up especially confused as I looked out the window to see an identical bus parked next to ours, (named Full Moon Fever).  Turns out the band, Bread of Stone, owns the exact same one.  They saw us parked at the Mall of America and decided to come say hello.  They were super nice folks.  They told us that together we own two buses out of a fleet of three that was made for a band back in 1999.  Maybe one day we’ll run into the third…the triplet.

From the mall, Pete and I took the train into the city where we wandered the U of M campus a bit and ate Punch Pizza, a spot we learned of from the infamous, the guapo, Jason Gray. Punch is one of only a couple certified Neapolitan pizza makers in the country.  From what I’m told, this is as close to true Italian pizza as it comes.  It’s good eating for sure.

Earlier in the day, before we left on the train, we met a nice couple from Chicago who were on their way to the Twins vs White Sox game downtown (they thought we were Tenth Avenue North…we weren’t though).  This sounded like a fun time, so after we felt the city had been sufficiently roamed, Pete and I decided to go down to the stadium to try and score some cheap tickets to the sold out game.  By the time we arrived, there were only 2 innings left.  People were leaving and the gates were wide open.  We looked at each other, nodded, and walked straight in.  It was 0-0 when we started watching.  By the time it was done, the Twins won 7-4.  We basically caught the entire game for free, and it was a great one!  We found some pretty good seats too.

So anyway, Minneapolis is awesome and everyone should go visit there sometime. The end.

I feel so bad for thinking you were 10th Ave! I was a bit nervous you guys weren’t from anything and it was going to be awkward, and had to make a split second decision! I’m glad you guys caught the game though, it was a blast, everyone was very nice.

I saw the club you mentioned but my friend was not big on going inside post-loss. Debby downer. I was pretty disappointed, had I known you guys were there, I might have made you go with me!

I hope you all enjoy South Dakota, maybe check out the Corn Palace to entertain yourselves? See you in Chicago next weekend!
