ABOUT ME

Bass Players are generally a laid back, wallflower-ish breed.  Have you seen the movie, That Thing You Do with Tom Hanks?  The BP doesn’t even have a name.  In the credits he’s labeled as just, “the bass player.”

We like it this way. I attribute it to temperament.  We are quiet adventurers.  If the career of a band is a roadtrip, we’re in the backseat, not responsible for much of the driving.  We still have a great view of the scenery though…and what makes BPs unique is that we have a great view of the characters in the vehicle too.  It’s a good vantage point for the story, and who doesn’t love a good story?

I play bass in the Grammy-nominated, Christian rock band, Sanctus Real.  It’s the best job I will probably ever have.  We get to tour the country and see and do many interesting, sometimes bizarre things.  We also come across many interesting, sometimes bizarre people.  Again, good for the story.

As for myself specifically, I like listening to and playing music.  I like writing blogs too but hate the word, “blog.”  I wish they were called something else.  I definitely love traveling.  I roast my own coffee.  I’m from Ohio.  It’s easily the greatest of the 50 states.  I was married and had a couple of difficult years that ended, tragically, in divorce.  Since we’ve written songs like “Don’t Give Up” and “Lead Me” that are specifically about the subjects of marriage and family, this puts me in unique position of faith and circumstance.  You can read more about this topic by going to the very first blog post.

So anyway, these are my stories of traveling around in the band with the church as our audience.  I plan to update regularly and I’ll make sure to give you the goods as they come.  I hope you enjoy.
